My wife told me about Gaiam yoga mats. I learned not all yoga mats are the same. I had a cheap beat up yoga mat that I used for both HIIT and yoga. My wife saw my pathetic mat and got me a Gaiam Dry-Grip 5mm Yoga Mat (68 x 24 Inches). It’s description is accurate, it is dry grip. No matter what type of yoga I do, I sweat. And, for the first time ever, I was able to yoga without my hands and feet sliding all over the mat. The non-slip coating works. The finish is totally smooth, but the non-slip finish works excellent. The mat is also very comfortable. It provides the right amount of cushion, while still remaining firm. I love it!
Impressed by the quality of Gaiam yoga mats, I bought a Gaiam premium 6mm mat. I use this for HIIT workouts in the garage. This is a spine saver. The mat helps while I do planks, toe touches and bicycle crunches – it is amazing. I have tried it for yoga. I thought the bumpy texture and foam like material would be great to prevent slipping. However, I personally felt my sweaty hands and feet did slip while doing yoga. I sweat a lot, but the mat may work well for you – the reviews are impressive. This mat has survived for more than a year and still has not fallen apart.
